THE SMITHY .. $120 a night (for two people sharing)*
For a special alpine experience, offering you the chance to soak in the best vista Hanmer has to offer, treat yourself to a few nights break in our cosy, timber-lined retreat: The Smithy.
This is the oldest building on our property originally used by the local farrier to shoe horses ready for forestry work in the 1940s. Hence the name!
We recently developed the then dilapidated building into a comfortable alpine lodge for those looking for something a little bit unique. The walls are lined with timber milled from Oregon (Douglas fir) grown on our property and the décor is beautifully finished throughout. The Smithy was designed to offer our guests the perfect environment in which to relax and unwind.
There is a large gas fire, spacious bathroom and modern fully equipped kitchen complete with new gas oven and microwave. The sleeping arrangements include a queen sized bed (made-up), large sofa which folds to a double bed and a single fold-out bed. There is a mezzanine floor accessed via ladder and trap-door which should be in use by Christmas 2006 (once a set of steps on the outside is built for an alternative escape route!). This level once operational will have another two single beds installed - perfect for kids aged 10 and over!
Large double doors open out to a private patio designed to soak up the sun while enjoying the close proximity of the mountains. A gourmet BBQ with rotisserie completes the outdoor dining experience in the warmer months. Once the frosty alpine evening sets in a cosy night by the fire awaits! There is also a TV and video for alternative entertainment.

STUDIO UNITS .. $65 (for two people sharing)*
We have upgraded three of our kitchen cabins to allow for those travelling on a budget to enjoy greater comfort when they stay with us. Instead of the futon sofa pull-out beds we now have ultra comfortable double beds! Also for evening entertainment after coming home from the pools we have installed a TV in each studio unit.
Couples can elect to stay in Cabin #1 which also has a comfy sofa. In cabin #4 and #6 there is a set of single bunks in addition to the double bed and TV to cater for those with kids.
Those who prefer their children to sleep in a separate room have the option of two adjacent units accessed via verandah. Close enough proximity so you can keep an eye on them and peace and quiet available for yourselves at the end of a busy day!

KITCHEN

LINEN
HIRE $5 per person
Linen is available for hire, and is charged per person. Hire pack includes a flat sheet, thick duvet, towel and face cloth (beds already come with a fitted sheet and pillow).
